#TOTW / Track of the Week: The XX - Intro
Hefty tasks are piling up and I try my best to empty my mind every morning because otherwise it’d be drowning in thoughts and inspirations and distractions and wonders by midday. Missing my friends and family and home and other homes. Missing my sunshine.

Besides textbook genres, another way to describe music is via its origins. E.g. Detroit Techno, West Coast Hip Hop, Southern Rock n’ Roll, Brit Pop etc etc. Given that sub-cultures arise based on locality (at least before the advent of the Internet), there is every reason to believe that where you are from also determines in some sense, how you sound like. There seems that there really is something in the water; a distinctive, yet collective sound that can be identified not just in the obvious vocals, but also from playing live drums out of Australia or making beats in Iceland. If music is language, then accented music reveals our national identity. Dialect, creole and pidgin et al. As for how much that nationalised sound is in demand depends partly on the real or imagined tropes of authenticity, heritage and myths surrounding creation and origin.

My Top 10 Albums of 2011
These are albums that I couldn’t stop listening to on repeat at some points during the past 11 months. Some of which are still on my playlist, which I still listen to everyday. They don’t necessarily have to be released, produced or distributed this year, nor are they ranked accordingly to credit. & you have to love amazing album art - who can ever resist awesome visuals, especially when it comes with eargasmic music?
What’s your top album of 2011?
